The Dining Club

Every month or so, a group of us single thirty-somethings get together for a homemade dinner. We take turns hosting the event, and everyone brings a dish so we can swap recipes. Here are some of our favorites.

APPETIZERS

Fresh Vietnamese Spring Rolls: A Vietnamese cuisine favorite known as goi cuôn, this appetizer is made from pork, shrimp, herbs, and cooked rice vermicelli, wrapped tightly in rice paper.

BREAKFAST AND BRUNCH

Breakfast Soufflé: Great for brunches, this soufflé combines eggs, milk, bread, seasonings, and cheese that's easy enough for a bachelor to make.

SALADS

Oriental Cabbage Salad: A delicious salad with an Oriental bent. Crunchy cabbage and Ramen noodles give this salad a fresh texture.
Minty Tabbouleh: The lightness of bulgur (cracked wheat) mixed with ripe plum tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and lots of chopped parsley and mint makes for a refreshing summertime salad.

OTHER STUFF

John's Beef Jerky: A longtime favorite in the office and great for hiking or long drives, at last the secret can be known. This recipe is good for beef, venison, and the white meat of chicken or turkey.
